Abstract

Objective. To study the validity of a recently developed test battery for normal hearing adults with central auditory processing problems. Materials and methods. The test battery comprised a questionnaire 1 and seven central auditory tests. 2 This test battery was administered in 10 normal hearing adults who visited our clinic because of speech perception problems. Results. The test scores of the subjects was compared with those of a reference group (n = 28). On average, test scores were significantly lower for the speech-in-noise test, filtered speech test and backward masking test. In addition, individual scores were examined, based on percentile scores. A significant relationship was found between the subjects complaints (as quantified by the questionnaire) and test scores. Conclusion. First results suggest that the test battery is valid.
