Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of respiratory failure disease-characteristics nursing quality program (DNQIP) in respiratory intensive care unit (RICU) . Methods On basis of patient-centered, evidence-based practice and high-quality nursing service chain, DNQIP nursing service procedure and scheme was built for patients with respiratory failure. The self-rating ability of nurses and the patients′ relevant indicators before and after the implementation of DNQIP were observed and evaluated. Results After DNQIP, the self-rating comprehensive professional ability of nurses was improved from (61.1±13.6) to (84.2±10.3) (P<0.05) . The integrity of nurse′s assessment for patients with respiratory failure increased from 51.7% to 75.4%. The incidence of VAP decreased from 5.86‰ to 2.09‰. Conclusions Evidence-based DNQIP can improve the nursing quality provided to patients with respiratory failure and the ability of nurses.
