Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of integrated nursing intervention with TCM acupoints pressing and diet rehabilitation guidance on quality of life of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods A total of 260 patients treated in Chinese PLA General Hospital of the Rocket Force from May 2015 to June 2016 were divided into observation group (n=130) and control group (n=130) randomly. Patients of the control group received routine nursing, including related mental nursing and rehabilitation guidance. While patients of the observation group underwent extra nursing intervention with TCM acupoints pressing and diet rehabilitation guidance. Treatment efficacy, life quality and satisfaction of nursing of the two groups were compared after intervention for 3 months. Results After intervention, treatment efficacy of the two groups was different with statistical significance (Z=-3.388, P=0.001) . There were statistical differences between the two groups in aspects of physical, mental, social and the total score of life quality (P<0.05) . Satisfaction of nursing of the two groups was different with statistical significance (Z=-3.972, P<0.001) . Conclusions The integrated nursing intervention with TCM acupoints pressing and diet rehabilitation guidance shows better effect in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes by improving their life quality, physical health, mental health, and the satisfaction of treatment. Therefore, this kind of method deserves to be researched and applied more. Key words: Aged; Diabetes mellitus; Quality of life; TCM acupoints pressing
