Abstract

Objective To investigate the application effect of continuous nursing based on rational-emotional therapy on growth and development of preterm infants discharged from Neonate Intensive Care Unit (NICU) . Methods A total of 100 preterm infants hospitalized in NICU of Beijing Children's Hospital, Capital Medical University from January 2017 to August 2018 were selected, and based on the admission time the preterm infants were numbered and divided into the observation group and control group with 50 cases in each group according to the random number table. The control group received routine continuous nursing care, and the observation group received the continuous nursing care based on rational-emotive therapy. The preterm infants' growth and development condition, re-morbidity rate and re-hospitalization rate as well as the parents' satisfaction after discharge were monitored. Results The weight of preterm infants in the observation group was higher than that in the control group at 4, 5 and 6 months of age (P 0.05) . Conclusions Continuous care based on rational emotional therapy can improve the growth and development of premature infants in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit after discharge, reduce the rate of re-morbidity, and improve parents' satisfaction with continuous care.
