Abstract

Objective To explore the application effect of age-based nursing intervention for awake period agitation in pediatric inguinal hernia sac high ligation. Methods 92 children with inguinal hernia admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University hospital from June 2017 to August 2018 were selected, and divided into the study group and the control group according to random number table methods with 46 cases in each group. All patients underwent laparoscopic hernia sac high ligation. The control group was given the routine nursing, and the study group was given relevant nursing according to different ages. The PACU residence time, recovery time, occurrence of awake period agitation and adverse effects in awake period were compared between the two groups. Results The PACU residence time and recovery time in the study group were significantly shorter than those in the control group (t=3.089、3.327, P=0.003、0.001), and there was no significant difference in operation time between the two groups (t=0.573, P=0.568). The scores of agitation immediately, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes and 45 minutes after PACU admission were significantly lower in the study group than those in the control group (F=4.920、4.679、5.698、7.546、16.983, P=0.029、0.033、0.019、0.007、<0.001). The incidence of total adverse effects in the study group was significantly lower than that in the control group (4.35% vs 21.74%, χ2=6.133, P=0.013). Conclusion Age-based nursing intervention for awake period agitation in pediatric inguinal hernia can make rapid wake, effectively improve the occurrence of agitation in children, reduce the incidence of complications in the awake period.
