Abstract

Crooked line Seismic survey has been widely applied in petroleum and coal prospecting in complex surface. It has obvious advantages in improvement of data quality with freely selection the optimal shooting and receiving locations. Especially in Loess area, data quality can be significantly improved with flexible path of crooked line where sources and receivers are laid in the deep valley to avoid thick loose loess layer; Crooked line can be used to keep away from large obstacles such as villages and cliffs. On the other hand, the scattering of midpoints with crooked line would be a challenge to the stackability of CMP gather and would threat fidelity of profiles. So the space, time and scattering conditions of CMP stackability should be taken as priority in data acquisition and processing of crooked line, so as to ensure the credibility of profile as well as take full advantages of crooked line in some tough areas.
