Abstract

In recent years, the use of intelligent temperature-control window has aroused the attention on vanadium dioxide (VO2) with the ability of thermal phase-change, and its application in intelligent packaging is also a hot topic of research. In this paper, the nanometer VO2 powder is coated into the middle of two PET film layers by using a certain proportion glycerin and ethanol mixtures as adhesive. A certain amount of pure water packed with the prepared composite membrane is heated by special heat-radiation device; the heat-resistant effect of the prepared composite membrane after the VO2 phase transition is watched by measuring the temperature of pure water, the infrared transmittance change of the composite membrane is also determined. We also studied the effect of VO2 phase transition temperature by doped tungsten. The experimental results show that the phase transition temperature is 18.6 i/at. % with doped tungsten and the prepared composite membrane can barrier the heat-radiation and infrared transmittance effectively, which will be used more in the intelligent packaging.
