Abstract

Objective To investigate the application of indwelling needle (20G) in the patients undergoing therapeutic leukapheresis and thrombocytapheresis and its effects on the success rate of the tube indwelling in the first time, successful completion rate of the treatment and satisfaction degree of patients. Methods One hundred and nine patients with indication for therapeutic leukapheresis and thrombocytapheresis were selected from hospitalized patients during Jan.2003 and Dec.2008.51 patients were applied the indwelling needle as experimental group whose families and themselves consented, while 58 patients who didnt consent to apply the indwelling needle were given the steel needle (16G), and were set as the control group. The success rate of the tube indwelling in the first time, successful completion rate of the treatment and satisfaction degree of patients were compared between the two groups. Results The success rate of the tube indwelling in the first time, successful completion rate of the treatment and satisfaction degree of the patients in the experimental group were higher significantly than those in the control group (P<0.05) and the treatment effect had no obvious difference ( P > 0.05) .Conclusions Appling indwelling needle during therapeutic leukapheresis and thrombocytapheresis can improve success rate of the tube indwelling in the first time, successful completion rate of the treatment and satisfaction of patients, without decreasing of the treatment effect.
