Abstract

Objective To evaluate the application and nursing of indirect bonding in correction of dento-maxillofacial deformities by using Dreve transparent silicone rubber. Methods Fifteen patients who needed to be treated by fixed appliance technology were selected, and all of them received the indirect bonding with Dreve transparent silicone rubber, single pallet transfer method, four - hand operation. And the effects of indirect bonding were evaluated. Results By using the new indirect bonding techniques, the brackets achieved accurate location and the errors were very small; the chairside operating time was greatly shortened, with average operating time about (13.11 ± 1.27) mins; the procedure of dental laboratories became convenient and took less time (the operating time was about 38 mins) ; the bonding strength of brackets increased, with the shedding rates of 4.4%. Conclusions The indirect bonding with transparent silicone rubber is a simple and effective way to correct dento-maxillofacial deformities, which can provide the basis for the clinical use of indirect bonding.
