Abstract

The activation energy for the electrolyte diffusion of cobalt halides and for self-diffusion of Co 2+ ions in cobalt halides has been determined in agar gel medium over the temperature range 25–50°C using the zone-diffusion technique. The decrease in the values of the Arrhenius parameters, E and D 0, with increasing gel percentage is explained on the basis of the transition state theory of diffusion.
