Abstract

Separate standardized growth charts were generated for weight, length (or height), head circumference, weight/length, and body mass index (BMI) with other measures including hand and foot lengths for those with Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS). Other growth charts were developed from individuals with PWS with or without growth hormone treatment for both male and female infants aged 0–36 months and older patients from the United States, Germany, and Japan. Normative control data were also illustrated on standardized growth curves with percentiles for comparison purposes. We encourage the use of the syndrome-specific growth charts when examining those with PWS for evaluation and for monitoring growth patterns, nutritional assessment and response to growth hormone therapy commonly in use, particularly in infants and children with PWS. Graphs represent data from the United States (Figs. 26.1, 26.2, 26.3, 26.4, 26.5, 26.6, 26.7, 26.8, 26.9, 26.10, 26.11, 26.12, 26.13, 26.14, 26.15, 26.16, 26.17, and 26.18) with original figures from Appendix C of the 3rd edition of the management of Prader-Willi syndrome textbook and newly updated figures; original standardized graphs from Germany (Figs. 26.19 and 26.20); and original standardized graphs from Japan (Figs. 26.21, 26.22, 26.23, 26.24. 26.25, 26.26, 26.27, and 26.28).
