Abstract

a)The phases of ground‐water hydrology being studied by some of the organizations given in this list are closely related, in some cases mostly so, to the work of other committees of the Section of Hydrology, particularly of those on absorption and transpiration, physics of soil‐moisture, and the chemistry of natural waters.b)A large part of the ground‐water work of the United States Geological Survey is done in cooperation with State Geological Surveys or other State, county, or municipal bureaus. According to the annual report of the Director of the Geological Survey for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1932, such work was carried on in cooperation with the following organizations: Arkansas Geological Survey; East Bay Municipal Utility District in California; Florida Geological Survey; Territory of Hawaii; Idaho Department of Reclamation; Nebraska State Conservation and Survey Division; New Jersey State Water Policy Commission; New Jersey Department of Conservation and Development; State Engineer of New Mexico; Joint Legislative Committee Investigating the Water Resources of the State of New York; Oregon State Agricultural Experiment Station; Pennsylvania Geological Survey; Tennessee Geological Survey; Texas State Board of Water Engineers; the City of Salt Lake City, Utah; and the Virginia Geological Survey. In the fiscal year ending June 30, 1933, in addition to most of these organizations, work is also being done in cooperation with the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station, Michigan State Department of Conservation, Nassau County (New York) Board of Supervisors, Suffolk County (New York) Board of Supervisors, North Carolina Department of Conservation and Development, and the City of Ogden, Utah. Some of these organizations do considerable independent work on ground‐water problems.
