Abstract

On January 1, 1986, the "Enterprise Bankruptcy Law of the People's Republic of China (Draft)," passed by the executive meeting of the State Council, was submitted to the National People's Congress Standing Committee. Between April 15 and May 20, a survey team, organized by the Legal Work Committee of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, went to Shenyang, Tianjin, Chongqing, and Shanghai to conduct surveys with regard to the enterprise bankruptcy law. I was dispatched by the leadership to join the survey team. During this period, I also conducted independent surveys in Wuhan, Chongqing, and Shenyang, and, in January 1986, commissioned four postgraduate students at the Central Party School to do feasibility studies in connection with the "Enterprise Bankruptcy Law" in the four cities of Guilin, Changsha, Hefei, and Harbin.
