Abstract

This section presents definitions of key elements from catholic social teaching. The key elements include dignity of human person, supremacy of truth, common good and justice for all. The supreme good and moral good meet in truth: truth of God, Creator and Redeemer, and truth of man, created and redeemed by him. By common good is to be understood the sum total of social conditions which allow people, either as groups or as individuals, to reach their fulfillment more fully and more easily. Justice for all is based on joint principles of solidarity and subsidiarity. The principle of subsidiarity is opposed to all forms of collectivism. It sets limits for state intervention. It aims at harmonising relationships between individuals and societies. It tends toward establishment of true international order. Keywords: Catholic social teaching; solidarity; subsidiarity; supremacy of truth
