Abstract
The design principles and construction of new apparatus for top-seeded solution growth are described. The most novel feature is a movable, annular cooling jacket surrounding the seed holder in order to adjust the temperature gradient at the crystal-liquid interface as growth proceeds, almost independently of the temperature difference across the solution.
