Abstract

In the course of a kinetic study of hydrocarbon steam cracking, water vapour concentrations as high as 90% had to be measured. Usually gas chromatographic analyses of large concentrations of water are highly irreproducible and the accuracy is very low, this inconvenience being related to adsorption of water vapour. By carefully controlling this phenomenon the authors have been able to obtain reproducible and accurate water vapour concentration measurements by gas chromatography without limitations.
