Abstract
In 2015, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) issued a brief report for cliniciansto lessen cognitive aging in older adults. 1 Among the report'stips were formal evaluation of cognition as well as screening for cardiovascular(CV) risk factors, depression, alcohol, smoking, diet, andphysical activity. The report advised clinicians to encourage regularphysical activity, reduction in CV risk factors, and adequate sleep, aswell as to promote social engagement and lifelong learning.
