Recently the opportunity was presented of studying a group of 21 patients with patent ductus arteriosus, and the results of this study are presented in this paper. The apical diastolic murmurs with which we have been impressed sound to us like those that are encountered in mitral stenosis. They are low-pitched, rumbling murmurs, localized at the cardiac apex and best heard in the lateral decubitus after exercise.A review of the English literature since 1895 yielded only five...Bibliography1.
