Abstract

As pediatric ophthalmologists and orthoptists we often worship those who served as our mentors and maintain practice patterns despite conflicting evidence in the literature. This workshop will address strabismus and amblyopia topics where practice varies widely, indicating a need for more rigorous study. Ophthalmologists and orthoptists will debate best practices on topics including: vision screening in young children, inferior oblique recession as a necessary procedure, importance of preoperative surgical measurements, adherence to occlusion therapy guidelines, value of the synoptophore.
