Abstract

AbstractSchistosomiasis is the most widespread human disease caused by a parasite. We present the case of a patient from Uganda with asymptomatic frank haematuria, and he was initially diagnosed with an Escherichia coli infection and managed with trimethoprim. Subsequent cystoscopic evaluation and bladder histology confirmed schistosomiasis haematobium, which was treated with praziquantel.
