Abstract

Matrine is the main component of sophora flavescens ait., which plays an important role in anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-fibrosis, anti-arrhythmic and immunosuppression effects. Recent studies have shown that matrine has potential antitumor effect through various ways, such as inhibiting the proliferation and differentiation of tumor cells, and inducing its apoptosis, as well as promoting tumor cell autophagy related death, restraining adhesion, invasion and metastasis of tumor cell, reversing the drug resistance of tumor and reducing the side effects of chemotherapy. In this review, the author will summarize the antitumor mechanism of matrine and its latest research progress, which aims at providing a broader strategy for treatment of tumor. Key words: Matrine; Neoplasms; Mechanism of action
