Abstract

Binding of a ligand to its specific lymphocyte receptor induces interaction of lymphoid cells with each other. Such receptor — ligand interactions have shown to initiate plasma membrane (PM) alterations which might trigger immune reactivity (1). Various authors report about the effect of mitogens on PM (2). We investigated the early steps of rat thymocyte stimulation, using antisera directed against different surface structures. The advantage of antibodies as stimulation agents instead of the widely used plant lectins are, that antibodies are more physiological, and the role of certain cell interaction determinants can be investigated by specific antibodies.KeywordsNormal Rabbit SerumPlant LectinStimulation AgentPlasma Membrane VesicleAcyl TransferaseThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
