Abstract

Of a total of 100 actinomycete strains isolated from soils of different origin, 65% contained substances with antiphage activity in their cultivation media, the effect being marked for more phage types in 12%. The results are compared with those obtained by other authors and the possibility of applying bacterial viruses as model organisms for the titration of antiviral chemotherapeutics is considered.
