Abstract

Free radicals are atoms or molecules that have one or more unpaired electrons on their outer orbital, are highly reactive, and could damage cells inside the human body. The human body produces antioxidants to neutralize free radicals, but human aging and stress oxidative conditions would increase the formation of free radicals, therefore an exogenous antioxidant is needed. The Plantae family is the largest family in the plant kingdom therefore it has great potential as a source of exogenous antioxidants. The objectives of this research were to determine the antioxidant activities of Mentha and Guggul leaves Aqueous and ethanol extract respectively. Antioxidant activity was determined by the DPPH method and observed results for future research.
