Abstract

The concentrations of antimony, arsenic, and bismuth in sediments of the Ukureyskaya formation of the Olovskaya Depression in Transbaikalia are considered. It was determined that their maximum concentrations are confined to the sediments around the village of Novoberezovskoye and Kulinda locality, which contains fossils of the dinosaurs Kulindadromeus zabaikalicus.

Highlights

  • It has become necessary to search for new sections that may contain the remains of dinosaur fauna similar to that identified in the deposits of the Ukureyskaya formation in the Kulinda falls

  • In order to assess the probability of new occurrences of dinosaur fossils, two outcrop sections of the Ukureyskaya formation were selected in the vicinity of the village Novoberyozovskoye and in the vicinity of Stary Olov village

  • It was determined that the minimum contents of the considered elements were found in the section near the Stary Olov village

Summary

Introduction

In 2014, together with foreign colleagues, a new genus and species of dinosaurs were described [1]. By 2019, it was known that Kulindadromeus zabaikalicus was the oldest ornithischian herbivorous dinosaur with feather-like structures [2]. It has become necessary to search for new sections that may contain the remains of dinosaur fauna similar to that identified in the deposits of the Ukureyskaya formation in the Kulinda falls. It was established that one of the geochemical features of the Kulinda falls deposits containing fossil dinosaur remains is their increased uranium content [3]. In order to assess the probability of new occurrences of dinosaur fossils, two outcrop sections of the Ukureyskaya formation were selected in the vicinity of the village Novoberyozovskoye and in the vicinity of Stary Olov village
