Abstract

The present work aimed to examine the antibacterial characteristics of MnWO4 nanomaterials through the utilisation of the sol-gel method. The samples in their original state were subjected to various analytical techniques for characterization including X-ray diffraction, Scanning electron microscopy, Energy dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and Transmission electron Microscopy. The samples that were generated, were evaluated in terms of their antibacterial efficacy against both Gram-positive bacteria, specifically Staphylococcus aureus and Gram-negative bacteria, namely Escherichia coli. The utilisation of this catalyst resulted in the observation of a zone of inhibition of bacterial growth measuring 25 mm for the aforementioned bacteria. This zone of inhibition is nearly equivalent to the standard value observed for Chloramphenicol.
