Abstract

Oxylia is a nutritional supplement developed to help fight against oxidative stress. Its formula combines olive, rosemary and black bean extracts. Oxylia is rich in Oleuropein, Hydroxytyrosol, Rosmary diterpens (carnosol, carnosic acid), Polyphenols including anthocyanidins. Oxylia has been proven to induce a regular weight loss of approximately 3.2 Kg during 90 days of supplementation. In this study, we analysed the protective effect of Oxylia against oxidative stress and against the formation of advanced glycation end-products. A randomized, double blind, placebo controlled clinical trial has been done with 80 healthy volunteers separated in 2 groups consuming either a placebo or Oxylia for 12 weeks. Serum AGEs, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase and plasma antioxidant capacity were determined. Consumption of Oxylia decrease by 30% of serum AGEs and increase by 34% of glutathione peroxidase, 30% of catalase and 75% of plasma antioxidant capacity. Consumption of Oxylia prevented efficiently glycation reaction and increased antioxidant capacity of blood serum. Oxylia is a potent treatment to prevent AGE-related pathologies.
