Abstract

Antisera against Mycena galopus were used in immunodiffusion, immunoelectrophoresis and absorption tests to compare the antigenicity of M. galopus with related and unrelated fungal species. Identical precipitation reactions were produced by all the M. galopus isolates tested, M. galopus var. candida and M. leucogala. A number of shared antigens were demonstrated with other species of Mycena but unrelated basidiomycete species shared few common antigens with M. galopus. Aspects of Mycena taxonomy are discussed in relation to these results.
