Abstract

An allosecurinine alkaloid was assayed against spore germination of some saprophytic and pathogenic fungi e.g., Alternaria alternala, A. solani, A. brassieieola, A. brassieae, Curvularia lunata, C. palleseens, C. maeulans, Cumularia species, Colletotrichum species, C. musae, C. glaeaspariaides, Erysiphe pisi, Fusarium udum, Helmintltosporium ecltinoelova, H. pennisetti, H. spiciferum, and Heterosporium sp. It inhibited mild spore germination of all the fungi tested. Cumularia lunata, Cumularia sp., Collectotrichum sp., C. musae and Heterosporium sp. were most sensitive as complete inhibition of spore germination was observed at very low concentrations.
