Abstract

We present a new theory of high-T C superconductivity based on an antiferromagnetic superexchange interaction. The theory explains the experimental dependence of T C on doping level in lanthanum compounds and, unlike previous theories, also explains the large difference in T C between the yttrium and lanthanum compounds. Still higher T C values are to be expected.
