Abstract

Neutron diffraction and susceptibility measurements have been performed on intermetallic Tb2AgIn3 crystallizing in the CaIn2-type structure in space group P63/mmc. The unit cell constants are a=4.793(2) Å and c=7.322(3) Å. Tb2AgIn3 orders antiferromagnetically below TN=42(1) K. The collinear magnetic structure is described in an orthogonal unit cell with A=a, B=a√3, C=c. Spin orientations are along C. The magnitude of the Tb-moment is 5.1(2) μB at 4.2 K.
