Abstract

AbstractAnti-5’nucleotidase 1A antibodiesInclusion Body Myositis (IBM) is an inflammatory myopathy or myositis. This disease is characterized by a degenerative inflammatory disorder of skeletal muscles with late onset weakness. The diagnosis is based on specific clinical signs and histopathological features detected on muscle biopsy. The search for biological markers like antibodies directed to cytosolic 5’-nucleotidase 1A (cN1A) could be very useful for this diagnosis. The sensitivity and specificity of cN1A antibodies for IBM varies from 40 to 70 % depending on the technique of detection and 80% respectively.
