Abstract
To prevent fatal thrombo-embolic complications, 1134 surgical patients have received acenocoumarol (Sintrom) prophylactically. Our objective was achieved in this series: fatal complications did not occur, only 5 cases of mild thrombo-embolic complications were seen, with rapid recovery of all patients concerned. Bleeding, as a possible complication of anticoagulant administration, was seen in 7 cases.
