Abstract

Series of metal complexes (Cu, Co, Ni, Y) was prepared by the reaction of the different transition metals and three environmentally cationic surfactants derived from vanillin. Their chemical structures were confirmed using IR, NMR, UV-Vis, dynamic light scattering (DLS) spectroscopy, and zeta potential. The surface activities of the ligands and their metal complexes were measured using surface tension measurements. Their Surface and thermodynamic parameters were calculated at 25 o C. Chemical structure-surface activity relationship of the metal complexes was discussed. The anticancer cytotoxic assessment of the synthesized metal complexes showed promising results in the medicinal field.
