Abstract

Swine sera from 195 farms in Minnesota were examined for antibodies against parainfluenza virus type 3 using the haemagglutination inhibition (HI) test. These sera were originally submitted to the Minnesota Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory for the detection of antibodies against Aujeszky's disease virus (ADV). Antibodies to PI-3 virus were detected in 172 of 1392 (12·4%) sera at titres of 1:40 or greater.
