Abstract
Clindamycin, lincomycin, spectinomycin, and Linco-Spectin were evaluated against 12 strains of bovine mycoplasmas. Mycoplasmastatic activities were noted with all antibiotics tested. Ranges of minimal lethal concentrations were greater with lincomycin or spectinomycin than with Linco-Spectin or clindamycin. Relatively resistant strains of bovine mycoplasmas were encountered only with lincomycin or spectinomycin alone. Linco-Spectin and clindamycin are effective against bovine mycoplasmas. More studies will be needed before these antibiotics may be considered acceptable semen additive.
