Abstract

A study of gonorrhea among male university students in Uganda confirmed previous findings of diminished penicillin sensitivity among strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae isolated in Uganda. This phenomenon is linked with total resistance to streptomycin. Procaine penicillin in a single dose of 2.4 megaunits is the treatment of choice in Uganda with 4 gm of tetracycline second choice when penicillin fails or cannot be given.
