Abstract
This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows: The primary objective of this systematic review is to evaluate the efficacy of lock treatments (antibiotic or other) in the treatment of catheter related infections in paediatric oncology patients as compared to a control intervention: another lock treatment with or without systemic antibiotics, or treatment with systemic antibiotics without the addition of a lock treatment. Secondary objectives of this systematic review are: To evaluate which micro‐organisms can be successfully treated with lock treatments, and in which cases early catheter removal is needed. To evaluate whether antibiotic lock treatments can be given alone, or if combination with systemic antibiotics is necessary.
