Abstract

The antiandrogenic and antiuterotropic activities of dimethisterone (DM), megestrol acetate (MA), and melengestrol acetate (MNA) in mice were compared with those of progesterone (P) in relation to their relative progestational potencies in rabbits. All steroids were administered subcutaneously. The relative potencies can be ranked as follows: progestational—MNA > MA >> DM > P; antiandrogenic—DM > MNA = MA > P; and antiuterotropic—MNA >> MA = PDM.
