Abstract

Tissues of histologically different types of thyroid glands have a different level of plasminogen activators. There is a significant correlation between different kinds of preoperative treatments. The liability to bleeding of thyrotoxic patients treated with anti-thyroid drugs may be traced to this fact; it was possible to demonstrate that anti-thyroid drugs increase the level of plasminogen activators. By means of proteinase inhibitors it is possible to influence the fibrinolytic activity and thus the effect of thromboplastin.
