Abstract

Background: Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis, though rare, is the most common paraneoplastic encephalitis. Typically affecting young female adults, the presumed aetiology is antibody production against the NMDARs of brain tissue within a teratoma.
