Abstract

The first issue of Practicing Anthropology published the results of a survey taken by anthropologists outside of the academy (Vol. 1, No. 1, p. 14, "The Jobs of Applied Anthropologists"). Of 113 respondents labeling 134 jobs in 32 job areas, the area of law enforcement was given only passing reference. This is not unusual. The literature on applied anthropology indicates health care, education, and the delivery of social services as the major areas where anthropological perspectives are currently being applied.
