Abstract

Originally, the editors of this volume planned to publish its papers under the heading ‘Anthropological Perspectives in the Sciences’. Although its title has now been changed, this volume still reflects an important new development which, in a somewhat pathetic mode, might be called the ‘anthropological turn’ in the sociology of science (1). This ‘anthropological turn’ is in no way confined to social studies of science, on the contrary, it is the reflection of re-orientation processes and shifts of emphasis in the social and human sciences of which the sociology of science is only part.KeywordsSeventeenth CenturyAnthropological StudyScience TodayAnthropological PerspectiveOriented StudyThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
