Abstract
Floating islands represent residue of peat which swam out on surface of water after flooding former Vlasina peat-bog. These islands are refuges of plant and animal species characteristic from peat-bog habitats. These specific habitats destroyed to a great extent with exploitation of peat for different human needs and survival of many plant and animal species endangered.
