Abstract

We have previously proposed an antenna gain self-calibration method for broadband antennas using the time-domain and averaging techniques. For the antenna gain measurement using our proposed method, the reflection coefficients for the antenna under test are measured using a vector network analyzer and a coaxial cable. Therefore, the measured results include the influence of the coaxial cable. The present study evaluates and eliminates the influence of the coaxial cable for the antenna gain self-calibration method by performing the antenna gain measurement for a double ridged guide horn antenna using a bi-directional optical fiber link transceiver. This study shows that we can estimate the antenna gain without the coaxial cable effect using our developed optical fiber link transceiver.
