Abstract

In ANSI C63.5 and CISPR 16-1-6, the requirements for the antenna calibration site are strictly determined. Many calibration laboratories calibrate antennas in 30 MHz to 1 GHz frequency range on OATSs (Open area test sites) according to these requirements. As the OATSs are inevitably located outdoors, the calibration on OATSs is influenced by weather and many other surrounding environments. On the other hand, in SACs (Semi anechoic chambers), it can be done indoors without being affected by the environmental conditions. For this reason, we studied the acceptability of antenna calibrations in SACs instead of OATSs and devised a method capable of calibrating antennas with equivalent accuracy to that on OATSs, which is free from the influence of SAC characteristics. We present the validity of Antenna Calibration in SACs proposing the new Antenna Calibration Method in this paper.
