Abstract

There exist knowledge exchanges between online communities and enterprise knowledge management systems. The knowledge creation model proposed by Yukio Nodaka cannot well explain the phenomenon of knowledge transfer between two or more information systems, for example, professional virtual community (PVC) and electronic knowledge repository (EKR). This study identify the dual identities of users, who are not only users of professional virtual community, but also users of electronic knowledge repository. Based on this finding, the paper defines the knowledge transfer behavior originally, namely knowledge transfer behavior from EKR to PVC (KtbE→P) and knowledge transfer behavior from PVC to EKR (KtbP→E). This study comprehensively uses motivation theory, self-efficacy theory and self-esteem theory, collects 331 valid data by questionnaire, and conducts multiple regression analysis. The results show that internal motivation and professional self-efficacy positively influence the KtbE→P, Internal motivation, external motivation and organizational self-esteem positively affect the KtbP→E.
