Abstract

Forty adolescent psychotic patients were compared with forty age-, sex-and maternity-clinic-matched cases for school health problems. The psychotic patients were drawn from a population study of inpatients with adolescent-onset psychosis in a Swedish urban region. The psychotic cases showed higher rates of minor neurodevelopmental problems than did the comparison group. Parental death was rather common in the psychosis group but did not occur at all in the comparison group. The results are discussed in a clinical context.
