Abstract
JACEE has had four successful long-duration balloon flights (LDBF) in Antarctica, in five attempts. The latest flight, in December, 1995, provided 348 hours of exposure at approximately 5 g/cm 2 residual overburden, for an array of 6 emulsion chamber modules with overall area 100 × 120 cm 2. Antarctic LDBF techniques have reached a degree of maturity which permits great advances in the rate of data acquisition. We will describe the gondola, data-logging onboard electronics, preparation and flight procedures, and special aspects of flight operations in the antarctic.
