Abstract

Antanas Kalanavičius. In the Joint between Two Words. The study analyzes poems by the Lithuanian poet and connects his writing with his biography. While the biographical background serves to motivate the themes of his poems, the main focus, however, lies on a linguistic point of view. The theoretical background is de Saussure's Cours de linguistique générale. The aim is to show how the meanings of words interact with each other and — by choosing seemingly conflicting word-formations — forming new fields of understanding and connotations.
